Social, Government 2.0, and Clean Tech Entrepreneurs: Uncle SXSW Wants You!
#1 You Need to Learn from this Post:
If you have a launched a game-changing business in the past year (or will launch by May 2010), the SXSW Accelerator is your chance to gain traction, attract funding, and win a fat cash prize.
A More Detailed Exploration:
When you think of the South By Southwest Interactive Festival, I bet the word “innovation” comes to mind. It is THE spring conference within the media and technology world and rightfully so.
Last year, the SXSW Accelerator was launched as a way to spotlight emerging companies. Over 200 companies applied for the opportunity to present their business concept to a panel of judges and prevail as the winner. Based on this success, SXSW Accelerator is broadening its focus to include new business categories.
For obvious reasons, I am most excited about this new one:
Green / Non-Profit – This category pertains to applications and technologies that make the world a better place. Entrants will include non-profit initiatives, Government 2.0 technologies, energy efficiency applications and frameworks, “social media for the social good,” and more.
As a volunteer on the SXSW Accelerator advisory board, I am here to help encourage social entrepreneurs, Government 2.0, clean tech, and other social good types to take advantage of this great opportunity. You can learn more, review and submit an application, or connect directly with its main organizer, Chris Valentine.
If you need a top ten list of reasons to participate, feast your eyes on this.
